As the summer becomes a distant memory, autumn gives us girls a great excuse to invest in some quality ladies knitwear. Technology Like with many sports garments seamless technology has also been incorporated into knitwear. This means that an item is produced in one entire piece rather than consisting of separate parts and then stitched together. The advantage of seamless knits is that of superior comfort. By eliminating often bulky seams at the shoulders and sides you get a much better fit and the natural elasticity of the knitwear is not interfered with.
Originally started as a Mens clothing line, Lacoste clothing has now extended its product line. It includes women and children clothing also. The women clothing line has Lacoste Women jeans, Polo shirts, tops, dresses, sweaters, shorts, skirts, swim-wear, and much more.
Those with large busts will need to wear women’s knitwear that slims their top half and balances out their bottom half. Therefore if you’re big busted, choose ladies jumpers and other women’s knitwear that has deep v-necks and avoid polo neck knitwear as it will only make you look heavier at the top.
It was Coco Chanel who revolutionised knitwear by releasing designs made with jersey – a fine-weave material that had been a fabric used for undergarments. The use of jersey was revolutionary as it fitted into people’s new lifestyles. With more women taking up employment after World War 1, the pompous nature of clothes was beginning to decline and cloth needed more ‘give’ than the previously fashionable starched cottons.
I have known people recommend using wooden needles to knit alpaca with. The ‘give’ in the natural needle, in comparison to the steel or plastic needle, seems to give you greater control and pleasure over knitting with the yarn. This is in no way essential, it’s just a nice thing to have when ‘knitting natural’- in fact most of my knitters choose to use steel needles.
If you are looking for a season round option go for a wool, lambswool or wool mix style. If you are looking for luxury or a treat then cashmere or a cashmere blend can’t be beaten and can be worn all year round (perfect for chillier summer evenings). Wool has natural stretch and breathability and many performance wool items, often made from Merino wool, will move with your body for the ultimate comfort. They also help to keep you warm when it’s cold, and cool when it’s warm thanks to their thermo regulatory properties. For the spring and summer you may prefer a lighter cotton or merino wool fabrication. Many of these styles are now machine washable which is a great practical advancement.
Unlike other wool knitwear, Merino sweaters are light weight and versatile so you will never feel weighed down when wrapped up! Merino wool picks up dye better than most non cotton fibers so when shopping for clothes you will find it in a wide range of colors from the darkest shades of wine to the most pastel tones of blue.
